Sociology graduates also fair quite well in the criminal justice arena. They get positions in correctional institutions, local, state, and federal courts, and other government agencies. The actual criminal justice positions vary but include corrections officer, rehabilitation specialist, and law enforcement agent.
Many federal government agencies are a great place for graduates to find jobs as well. Agencies like the Department of Education, Health and Human Services, Housing and Urban Development, and the National Institute of Health often hire those with sociology degrees. They hold positions doing social statistics, demography, research, and city planning.
Since education requirements vary amongst the sociology fields, you should closely examine your career goals prior to enrolling in a program. The programs tend to be very demanding and intellectual. However, the rewards are really worth it. Upon graduation, you will have the skills necessary to succeed in this challenging career field.
